Montres Louis Erard are offering gold to commemorate their 75th anniversary

Established in 1931 by the watchmaker from La Chaux-de-fonds, Louis Erard, the brand has now enjoyed two years of exceptional momentum since it was purchased in 2003 by a group of investors and chaired by Alain Spinedi. Relaunched with the 1931 Collection, it is now the proud owner of six large time-keeping families that combine know-how and uncompromising quality at highly affordable prices.

This year, the brand is celebrating its 75th anniversary by reviving the 1931 Collection in four variations of the manual or self-winding mouvement in steel version. To commemorate this prestigious jubilee, the factory of Le Noirmont (JU) will launch each of the 1931 four variations in a limited edition of 75 watches in 18k pink gold.

It will perpetuates the brand reminding its history and drawing the main lines of its futur.
History

Louis Erard was born in La Chaux-de-fonds to a family of watchmakers. Twenty years of diligent training at school and in the workshops of Neuchâtel provided him with the demanding know-how which led him to create a company and then file his own brand Louis Erard et Fils in 1930. His sons, René and Jean-Louis assisted him from 1945, a year of economic recovery and hope following the war.

In 1956, Louis Erard was given the right to manufacture his own movements and launched himself into modifying movements bearing his seal. René and Jean-Louis then followed in their father’s footsteps until Paul, the grandson of Louis and from a banking background, provided a more commercial approach in 1969, which generated rapid growth for the brand.

There then followed years of prosperity, especially in the Middle and Far East, and ambitious investments up to 1992, when ownership of the company was transferred and it was relocated to Le Noirmont, where it is still located today.
Since 2003, year of the brand revival, Louis Erard is marching to a creativity rhythm.

The present and future

In June 2006, twenty employees, ten of whom are watchmakers, will be very keen to revive and perpetuate Montres Louis Erard.

L’Esprit du Temps can be read in the sincerity of their approach, whose philosophy is essentially based on offering a high-quality horological product to a knowledgeable public, which does not want to invest thousands of francs in purchasing only one time piece.

Being faithful to the Louis Erard brand, becoming its ambassador and having several collections mark the identity of the Louis Erard client, who, according to circumstances, will ensure the long life of L’Esprit du Temps.
