(u-s:b /Aristo/Beck) The German ARISTO WATCH GmbH is the first watch making company in the world to demand from their suppliers of watch straps to use no Formaldehyd while producing them. Formaldehyd is suspected to cause cancer and allergies, but to certain limits it is still used to lower the costs of tanning leather.
Norbert Bogner, Production Manager of the watch strap manufacturer H. & E. BECK at Tiefenbronn (Southern Germany), declares: "Formaldehyd can shorten the time of tanning leather by two oder even three days. But we can guarantee to ARISTO and every other watchmaker in the world, that our leather suppliers and we do not use any Formaldehyd at all."
The H. & E. BECK is a member of "Watch Parts from Germany" (WPG). 22 suppliers of the watch makers founded this association in 1998 at Pforzheim (Souhern Germany), where the first watch manufactory was established in 1767. Find more informations about the WPG on http://www.watchparts.de
