(u-s:b /Blancier) A unique virtual watchmaking concept from Blancier Handmade Watches will be launched on the European market in January 2005. Watch lovers can create and then order their own mechanical watch – life-sized – in a virtual workshop through the www.blancier.com website. The master watchmakers at Lottermann & Söhne in the German city of Mannheim will then assemble the timepiece and arrange for it to be delivered.
The spiritual father of the ingenious concept is the Dutch entrepreneur Willem Kamerman. He talks about the unique yet affordable watches that can be created thanks to a very special collaboration. “Watch lovers have a wide range of watch elements to choose from in the virtual workshop. They can therefore put together their own mechanical watch to suit their own personal style. Once the order form has been sent, the master watchmakers at Lottermann & Söhne will assemble the timepiece with the greatest precision and widely acknowledged craftsmanship.”
Watch enthusiast Willem Kamerman met master watchmaker Till Lottermann a number of years ago at a seminar in Germany, and was extremely impressed by his craftsmanship and his passion for watches. Soon afterwards, the idea was conceived to produce handmade mechanical watches available to a wider market by means of the internet. The collaboration with Lottermann & Söhne was also arranged quickly.
