(u-s:b /Botta-Design) Our objective when developing the Argos Lumen, the latest wristwatch from Botta-Design, was to make the watch as easy as possible to read, in every situation. This lofty goal was achieved by combining a number of different measures: the basis is a clear and high-contrast display with an inner hour ring and outer minute and second scale. Thanks to their colouring and heights, it is clear which hand relates to which scale. In addition, a globally patented illumination principle ensures optimum readability even in darkness: the entire watch face is coated with brilliant white Superluminova, making the whole dial light up in the dark. A technical refinement additionally generates a shining aura around the hands: the undersides of the hour and minute hands are likewise coated with Superluminova. In bright light, the undersides of the hands are charged with light reflected off the dial, which at night significantly increases the contrast between the hands and the illuminated dial. Even after hours of complete darkness, this system of dual illumination guarantees optimum readability at all times – and without even using any energy.
