(u-s:b /C.F. Bucherer) A veritable feat of mechanics housed in precious metals, boasting a combination of functions and revealing the utmost attention to detail: Carl F. Bucherer has the connoisseurs of the grand tradition of watchmaking in mind with this particularly fine watch, produced in a limited series.

The year 2003 is already set to be a key year for the Patravi, the principal collection of the brand. With the exclusive launch of a chronograph equipped with a perpetual calendar, the brand has demonstrated its mastery of one of the most ambitious watchmaking complications and consolidated Carl F. Bucherer’s position within the enviable sphere of high-quality watchmaking.

Tapping the full potential of the CFB 2159 calibre, Carl F. Bucherer is offering a chronograph that combines a perpetual calendar with the phases of the moon. Despite being highly technical in nature, there is nothing complicated about this timepiece “apart from” its movement. The arrangement of each of the functions, the display of the different gradations of time and the design of the case have been conceived of to make the time easy to read and the chronograph easy to use.

The robust and carefully styled architecture of the solid case frames a well-balanced dial equipped with four multi-functional sub-dials. The lunar months are displayed in highly original fashion at 3 o’clock on a circle around which a hand rotates. The sub-dials located at 6 o’clock, 9 o’clock and 12 o’clock allow the chronograph functions to be read off via small hands, while the date, day and month are displayed in parallel around the circumference. The dial at 9 o’clock also shows the leap years.

The chronograph functions can be readily activated by means of two elegant rectangular push-buttons located on the side of the case-middle. Carl F. Bucherer has once again testified to the care it takes in uniting technology with comfort and sophisticated aesthetics.

A precious timepiece, this perpetual calendar comes in white or pink gold in limited series. With the accent on exclusivity, this creation bears elegant witness to the brand’s perfect mastery of a precision craft.

PAYING HOMAGE TO A GENUINE PROTAGONIST OF HIS DAY
The 125th anniversary of Lucerne composer and conductor, Dr. h.c. Fritz Brun, provided us with the opportunity to dedicate the limited edition of 125 timepieces of the Patravi Chronograph with a Perpetual Calendar and Indication of the Moon Phases to this exceptional character. Born on 18 August 1878 in Lucerne, Fritz Brun figured prominently among the circle of Swiss artistic celebrities during the first half of the 20th century. A conductor and choirmaster for more than 40 years, he influenced the very development of music through his independent and charismatic personality. The works that he has left us are living proof of the fact that he excelled in symphonic composition.

Fritz Brun received a large number of awards, bearing witness to his reputation. In 1920, he was appointed an honorary doctor of the University of Berne in recognition of his many talents. In 1954, he received the Composition Prize from the Association of Swiss Musicians and, in 1958, the City of Lucerne awarded him its artistic prize. Dedicating his final years to composing, Fritz Brun settled in the idyllic surroundings of Morcote, where, far from life’s hustle and bustle, he drew the inspiration to create works of unfailing beauty.

Both his oeuvre and his personality have shaped and will continue to inspire several generations: they bear witness to the fact that Fritz Brun is one of those individuals «who do not go with the times». It is therefore no coincidence that Carl F. Bucherer has chosen such a unique personality. A native of the heart
of Switzerland, he too incorporates the philosophy personified by the Lucerne-based watch brand.

With his commitment and pioneering character, he made his mark as a true protagonist of his time.
