(u-s:b /Frey Wille) With its precious enamel designs, the Viennese enamel jewellery manufacturer FREY WILLE
once again brings ancient mythology into the world of fashion: this spring its new design-sets,
Aphrodite and Dolphins of Poseidon, with their distinctive relief technique, are dedicated to all
those in love.
Starting immediately, two new collections from the popular “Greco-Roman” series, called
Aphrodite and Dolphins of Poseidon, will be presented in springlike colours - the Aphrodite set
in a luminescent turquoise blue and the Dolphins of Poseidon set in a clear ocean blue.
Aphrodite
According to the legends of Homer and Hesiod, Aphrodite (a.k.a.
“Venus” in Roman mythology), the Greek goddess of love and beauty
and the daughter of Zeus, was born from the foam of the sea. She
symbolizes beauty, love and also fertility. Her passionate love for
Adonis is told in numerous legends. The artists from the international
team of FREY WILLE have chosen to represent her with the icon
of a scallop shell, the same symbol used by Sandro Botticelli (among
others) in his masterwork, "Birth of Venus." The meander – an
ancient ornamental labyrinth-like motif symbolising immortal beauty
and harmony – borders the scallop shell form.
Dolphins of Poseidon
The Dolphins of Poseidon are symbolic as messengers of love. In
ancient mythology, Poseidon’s emissaries of love took on the form of
dolphins. FREY WILLE’s dolphin motif is based upon that from a
Olympian mosaic. The dolphins are depicted in their element – the
sea, shown in the geometric, stylised wave motif of ancient design.
Numerous gods and goddesses rode dolphins across the seas.
Dolphin riders are a recurrent theme in classical art, most often as
Eros, the God of love. In addition to symbolising the message of love,
the dolphin stands for wisdom, beauty, strength, joie de vivre, harmony,
freedom, devotion and loyalty.
80 Separate Steps Required for Production
Viennese enamel manufacturer FREY WILLE’s “BIJOUX CULTURELS” typically require approximately 80
separate design steps (many of these manual) in order to produce a finished piece of jewellery. With the two
new designs,Aphrodite and Dolphins of Poseidon, this complex process is given an additional level of finesse.
A new technology developed by FREY WILLE for these new pieces enables a tactile, relief-like surface on the
normally smooth enamel. Now, one’s sense of touch as well as sight is delighted by the mosaic-derived design
motifs. Of course, as with all FREY WILLE enamels, the proven luminosity of the colours, the precision of the
lines and the durability of the internationally inimitable jewellery remain intact.
These distinctive jewellery sets from FREY WILLE are now available in their exclusive jewellery boutiques
(located in Dubai, Hamburg, London, Milan, Paris,Tokyo and Vienna, and many other major cities) as well as
with their selected jeweller partners. Each of the two design sets includes approximately 20 different jewellery
forms such as rings, brooches, pendants, earrings and bracelets.
