(u-s:b /) As a testament to its enduring popularity, OMEGA’s Constellation line remains one of the best-selling ladies watches in the world. Even today, some 50 years after it was first launched, the Constellation remains the epitome of timeless elegance, rising above the changing trends of fashion…

The Constellation’s success can be attributed to its strong – and unique – design. The four “claws” found on either side of the case at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock are the distinguishing feature. Originally conceived in 1982 to improve water resistance by clamping the bezel to the case on the gents’ models, the claws have since become a design trait of all models. An equally important design feature on all Constellations is the crescent shaped facet found on the case at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock. Last, but not least, all Constellation models also have the Observatory emblem stamped on their case back as a reminder of this collection’s impressive precision pedigree, which includes the all-categories record of 97.8 points out of 100, set at a precision competition at the Teddington observatory in the UK in 1936 and never since beaten in the history of that observatory’s competitions.

The latest models in the Constellation ladies’ collection continue with the classic Constellation design theme but also add a refreshing new touch with their new dial. As its base material, the dial maintains the classic white mother-of-pearl, though a unique touch is conferred upon it by the subtle double OMEGA monograms which adorn it. There is a choice of 3 ladies’ references in all gold, two-tone (18-carat red gold and steel) and all steel, each available in two sizes: Small (25.5mm case diameter) and Mini (22.5mm case diameter). The all-gold model has a satin-finished 18-carat red gold case, bezel, crown and matching satin-finished 18-carat red gold bracelet. The two-tone model has a satin-finished stainless steel case with 18-carat red gold bezel, claws and crown and a matching satin-finished stainless steel bracelet with an 18-carat red gold central bar on the links. The all-steel model has a satin-finished stainless steel case and white gold bezel with matching satin-finished stainless steel bracelet and stainless steel crown. The bezel on all models is set with diamonds (38, or 0.42 carat for the Small and 30, or 0.33 carat, for the Mini), with a further 12 diamonds marking the hours on the dial. The look is completed by Dauphine hands (red gold-plated on the gold and steel/gold models, rhodium-plated on the all-steel model), the OMEGA trademark with applied symbol, as well as the Constellation name and an applied Constellation star.

These new models naturally share the same exacting technical specifications as all other Constellation models: scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on the inside, water resistance to a depth of 30 metres and precision timekeeping from a proven OMEGA movement – in this case the quartz calibre 1456, which has a battery lifetime of 32 months.
