(u-s:b /Salon International EPHJ) EPHJ International Show – Professional Watchmaking-Jewelry Environment

Lausanne – Beaulieu International Congress and Exhibition Centre

This year’s EPHJ International Show – an indispensable date in the calendar of watch and jewellery professionals – will be held from May 25th to 28th in the Beaulieu exhibition centre, Lausanne, Switzerland. This annual encounter represents the third edition of a show that is attracting increasing interest and has already established itself as a yearly highlight for these sectors.

Designed for and by professionals in the field, the EPHJ Show brings together under one roof the entire range of watch and jewellery professions, apart from the actual manufacturers of finished products. Design, CAD, raw materials, tools, machines, testing equipment, components, packaging, etc.: all the professions involved in developing and making products are represented, in such a way as to offer international clients the broadest possible choice. Visitors – all of them professionals and international clients – can thus be sure to find efficient solutions to their requirements from among the specialists present.

First launched in 2002, this event is showing impressive growth: from the 92 participants at its first edition, it now welcomes over 180 exhibitors. As a natural corollary of this growing success, the companies taking part in the EPHJ Show are entirely satisfied and appreciate this professional and friendly environment in which they do excellent business.

This year, the show organisers have succeeded in grouping all exhibitors on a single floor, while broadening the actual exhibition area. This rationalisation of the space available will enable visitors to discover the complete spectrum of the specialised fields involved in the process of creating a watch or a piece of jewellery. Among them, two traditional techniques will be in the spotlight: a guillocheur and an enameller will be providing a demonstration of their art, testifying to time-honoured know-how brought to life within the finest contemporary creations. This exceptional craftsmanship will be presented each day at the EPHJ booth (no. 790).

To underscore the continuity of purpose prevailing among the various professions, the EPHJ will be hosting the exhibition of the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FH), entitled Think Time – Think Swiss Excellence. Structured around eight audio-visual modules, this exhibition reveals the multiple facets of Swiss watchmaking, while highlighting the immense variety and wealth of specialisations it requires. Think Time – Think Swiss Excellence will also prove a welcome reminder of the fact that it is the interaction between several disciplines and the quest for excellence at each level of production, which have earned Swiss watchmaking its prestigious international status.

The EPHJ will officially open at 9 am on May 25th 2004. The inaugural ceremony scheduled for 10.30 am will be attended by Mrs. Jacqueline Maurer-Mayor, State Councillor and Head of the Finance Department of the Canton of Vaud.
